The Advanced Systems & Designs SmartCable™ USB Keyboard single gage interface connects the Nidec Tosok DEG2000 Digital Electric Micrometer to your data collection system. This interface cable links the Tosok DEG2000 Digital Electric Micrometer to the SmartCable™ Keyboard using a 9-pin RS232C male connector---no additional cables required. The output of the SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface is a standard USB 2.0 keyboard signal.
Connecting the SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface with its built-in keyboard wedge to a computer will allow the Tosok DEG2000 Digital Electric Micrometer to be recognized as a keyboard device that can send data to any Microsoft Windows application - no software wedge required!
This SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface will make the DEG2000 Digital Electric Micrometer readings appear as if they were typed in using a standard keyboard - eliminates data collection errors. If you want to collect data into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet or Explorer based SPC program, simply select the cell where you want the data to appear and trigger a reading.
Readings can be triggered from the Nidec Tosok Electric Micrometer by the following:

Pressing the ENT key on the DEG2000 Digital Micrometer

Pressing the button on the SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface

Depressing a connected footswitch (not included)
Simple to use:
LED Indicator lights aid the user with the operation of this SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface. This SmartCable™ Keyboard is easily configured to send data readings in different modes on your spreadsheet, such as CR, TAB, up, down, left, or right. The output mode is selected by adjusting the rotary switch on the SmartCable™ Keyboard. To access the rotary switch, simply remove the top cover by loosening two Phillips screws.
Our SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interfaces have a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects. Six foot standard cable length. All of our SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interfaces are available in custom lengths. Contact us for custom lengths.
A detailed operation manual is included with this SmartCable™ Keyboard. Advanced Systems & Designs sets the SmartCable™ Keyboard at the factory to the default settings on the Nidec Tosok DEG2000 Digital Electric Micrometer. Make sure both the SmartCable™ and DEG2000 Digital Electric Micrometer are set to the same values in order for proper communication to occur. Refer to the Nidec Tosok DEG2000 Digital Electric Micrometer instruction manual for more information on RS232C communication with external devices.
