Product Description
Starrett 2900 Indicator SmartCable™ Gage Interface
Send data to SPC programs
This Advanced Systems & Designs SmartCable™ USB gage interface connects the Starrett 2900 electronic indicator to a computer and will allow the gage to be detected as a COM port (or virtual Com Port) and send data to communication and terminal emulation programs (i.e. HyperTerminal) or any SPC data collection software program. The Starrett 2900 Capacitive Electronic Indicator gage is connected to this Advanced Systems & Designs SmartCable using the gage connector on the cable---the SmartCable™ connects directly to the gage, no additional cables required.
The output of the SmartCable™ USB gage interface is a standard USB 2.0 COM port signal and the USB connection supplies power to the cable. The gage cannot obtain power from the SmartCable™ USB---the gage requires a separate power supply (batteries) of its own.
NOTE: This SmartCable™ USB will NOT send data directly to a spreadsheet program such as Excel, without using an additional software wedge program. Please see our SmartCable™ Keyboard (600-123-KB-USB) gage interface if you want to send data directly to Excel or Explorer based SPC programs.
Readings can be triggered by any of the following:
-
Pressing the push button on the SmartCable™ USB gage interface
-
Depressing a connected footswitch (not included)
-
Pressing the send button on the gage (if it has one)
-
Sending a gage read command from the computer to the SmartCable™ USB gage interface
The 600-123-USB SmartCable USB can send data in several modes based on the gage or a request from the host computer. A detailed operation manual is included with each SmartCable USB gage interface. Six foot cable length.
