Product Description
The Chicago Dial Indicator CDI Logic, Logic Plus, Logic Basic or Starrett Wisdom 2700 gage is connected to the Advanced Systems & Designs SmartCable using the connector on the cable. Connecting the SmartCable USB to a computer will allow the SmartCable USB to be detected as a COM port (or virtual Com Port) to send data to communication and terminal emulation programs (i.e. HyperTerminal) or any SPC data collection software program.
NOTE: Not typically used for CDI Logic IQ or Starrett Wisdom IQ indicator. See below for more information.
The output of the SmartCable USB is a standard USB 2.0 COM port signal and the USB connection supplies power to the cable. As a result, the gage can obtain power from the SmartCable Keyboard or can use separate power (batteries) of its own.
This SmartCable USB will NOT send data directly to a spreadsheet program such as Excel, without using a separate software wedge program. Please see our SmartCable Keyboard (600-11-KB-USB) if you want to send data directly to Excel.
NOTE: See our 600-11RS-USB SmartCable for the CDI Logic IQ or Starrett Wisdom IQ digital indicators. In order for this cable to work with the CDI Logic IQ or Starrett Wisdom IQ gage, the CDI data format output must be activated on the gage. Please contact the gage manufacturer for assistance with data format.
Readings can be triggered by any of the following:
-
Pressing the send button on the SmartCable USB
-
Depressing a connected footswitch (not included)
-
Pressing the send button on the gage (if it has one)
-
Sending a gage read command from the computer to the SmartCable USB
The 600-11-USB SmartCable USB can send data in several modes; read only, continuous, continuous with delay, disable pushbutton, and others. A detailed operation manual is included with each SmartCable USB. Six foot cable length, special lengths available upon request.
