Note: Special order 10 foot length. The Chicago Dial Indicator (CDI) Logic IQ, Logic ALG and Logic ALG Illuminate, and Starrett Wisdom IQ gage has the capability of communicating over both USB and RS232. These gages' USB and RS232 communications use the same command set and communication protocol.
The special connector on the cable attaches the Chicago Dial digital indicator - CDI Logic IQ or Logic ALG or Starrett Wisdom digital indicator to this Advanced Systems & Designs - ASDQMS SmartCable USB single interface. When the ASDQMS SmartCable USB is connected to a computer, it can provide inspection data as a COM port (or virtual Com Port) to communication and terminal emulation programs (such as HyperTerminal) or any SPC data collection software program.
Most gages are powered by batteries. The ASDQMS SmartCable USB output is a standard USB 2.0 COM port signal, and the USB connection powers the cable. As a result, the gage can obtain power directly from the SmartCable USB or can use separate power (batteries) of its own. Our recommendation is to remove the batteries from the gage to prevent a future problem with battery corrosion.
The 600-11RS-USB-10 SmartCable USB single interface cable can respond to data requests in three modes; Read Gage, Hold Gage and Clear Gage. For a more comprehensive SmartCable option for use with the Logic IQ or ALG, or other CDI Logic gages, see our 600-11-USB. A special data format output on the gage will be required.
NOTE: This SmartCable USB will NOT send keystroke data directly to a spreadsheet program such as Excel, without using a separate software wedge program. Please see our easy-to-use SmartCable Keyboard (600-11-KB-USB) if you want to send data directly to Excel.
Readings can be triggered by any of the following:

Pressing the send button on the ASDQMS SmartCable USB interface

Depressing a connected footswitch - not included

Pressing the send button on the gage (if it has one)

Sending a gage read command from the computer to the SmartCable USB
