Rice Lake TS Series Electronic Balance SmartCable Gage Interface
Send data directly to Excel or other Explorer based SPC programs
Simplify your data acquisition system. This Advanced Systems & Designs SmartCable USB Keyboard, single gage interface, connects the Rice Lake TS Series Tuning Fork Electronic Balance to a computer. Connects directly to the gage using a 9-pin female connector, no additional cables required. The output of the SmartCable Keyboard is a standard USB 2.0 keyboard signal.
Connecting the SmartCable Keyboard with its built-in keyboard wedge to a computer will allow the Rice Lake Electronic Balance to be identified as a keyboard device that can send data to any Microsoft Windows application - no software wedge required. The SmartCable Keyboard will make the gage readings appear as if they were typed in using a standard keyboard - eliminates data collection errors. If you want to collect data into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet or Explorer based SPC program, simply select the cell where you want the data to appear and trigger a reading.
Readings can be triggered by the following:

Pressing a PRINT button on the Rice Lake TS Series Balance

Pressing the push button on the SmartCable Keyboard

Simple to Use!
LED Indicator lights aid the user with the operation of the SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface. This SmartCable™ Keyboard is easily configured to output data in different output modes on your spreadsheet, such as CR, TAB, up, down, left, or right. The output mode is selected by adjusting the rotary switch on the SmartCable™ Keyboard. To access the rotary switch, simply remove the top cover by loosening two Phillips screws.
A detailed operation manual is included with this SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface. Advanced Systems & Designs normally sets the SmartCable™ Keyboard to the default settings on the Rice Lake TS Electronic Balance. Make sure both the SmartCable™ and Rice Lake Balance are set to the same values. Refer to the Rice Lake TS Series Electronic Balance operation manual for more information on connecting to external RS-232C devices.
Six foot standard cable length. Special lengths are readily available upon request.
