The Rice Lake IQ plus Digital Weighing Systems convert data from your load cells to accurate digital weight readings. This Advanced Systems & Designs SmartCable™ USB Keyboard, single gage interface connects the Rice Lake IQ plus Digital Weighing Systems directly to a computer. The ASDQMS SmartCable™ Keyboard interface attaches to the internal connector port on the Rice Lake Digital Weighing Systems using direct wire lead connector---no additional cables required. The output of the Advanced Systems and Designs SmartCable™ Keyboard is a standard USB 2.0 keyboard signal.
Connecting the SmartCable Keyboard with its built-in keyboard wedge to a computer will allow the Rice Lake IQ plus Digital Weighing System readings to be identified as a keyboard device that can send data to any Microsoft Windows application - no software wedge required. The SmartCable Keyboard will make the Rice Lake Digital Weighing Systems readings appear as if they were typed in using a standard keyboard - eliminates data collection errors. If you want to collect data into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, simply select the cell where you want the data to appear.
Readings can be triggered by the following:

Pushing the PRINT / Send Data button on the Rice Lake device, if it has one

Pressing the button on the ASDQMS SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface

Depressing a footswitch (not included) connecter to the SmartCable™ Keyboard (or similar triggering device)
Simple to use!
LED Indicator lights aid the user with the operation of the ASDQMS SmartCable. This SmartCable Keyboard is easily configured to output data in different output modes on your spreadsheet, such as CR, TAB, up, down, left, or right. The output mode is selected by adjusting the rotary switch on the SmartCable™ Keyboard. To access the rotary switch, simply remove the top cover by loosening two Phillips screws. A detailed operation manual is included with each SmartCable™ Keyboard.
At the factory, Advanced Systems & Designs normally sets the SmartCable™ Keyboard to the default settings on the Rice Lake IQ plus Digital Weighing System. Make sure both the SmartCable™ and Rice Lake Digital Weighing Systems device are set to the same communication values. Refer to the Rice Lake IQ plus Digital Weighing System installation manual for more information on interface communication.
