This Advanced Systems & Designs - ASDQMS SmartCable™ USB Keyboard single gage interface connects the RADWAG PS Series Electronic Balance to a computer and sends data to Excel or other spreadsheet programs. We offer interface cables for all RADWAG devices - call for more information.
This SmartCable Keyboard gage interface attaches to the RS-232 serial adaptor cable using a 9-pin female cable connector. The output of the SmartCable™ Keyboard is a standard USB 2.0 keyboard signal.
Connecting the SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface with its built-in keyboard wedge to a computer will allow the RADWAG Electronic Balance to be identified as a keyboard device that can send data to any Microsoft Windows application (like Excel) or internet explorer based SPC program - no messy software wedge required. The SmartCable™ Keyboard will make the RADWAG Balance readings appear as if they were typed in using a standard keyboard - eliminates data collection errors. If you want to collect SPC data into a Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet applications, simply select the cell where you want the data to appear and trigger a reading.
Readings can be triggered by the following:

Pressing the PRINT / ENTER button on the RADWAG PS Series Electronic Balance

Pressing the built-in button on the SmartCable™ USB Keyboard

Pressing an optional footswitch connected to this SmartCable™ USB Keyboard
A detailed operation manual is included with this SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface. Advanced Systems & Designs normally sets the SmartCable™ Keyboard to the default settings on the RADWAG PS Series Electronic Balance. The SmartCable™ Keyboard and the RADWAG PS Series Electronic Balance must be set to the same RS232 parameters in order for communication to occur. Refer to the RADWAG PS Series Electronic Balance user manual for more information on external communication and connecting to a peripheral device.
LED Indicator lights aid the user with the operation of the SmartCable™ Keyboard. This SmartCable Keyboard is easily configured to output data in different output modes on your spreadsheet, such as CR, TAB, up, down, left, or right. The output mode is selected by adjusting the rotary switch on the SmartCable™ Keyboard. To access the rotary switch, simply remove the top cover by loosening two Phillips screws.
Six foot standard cable length. All of our SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interfaces are available in custom lengths upon request.
