This Advanced Systems & Designs SmartCable™ USB Keyboard single-gage interface connects the Precisa BJ Laboratory Classic Balance to a computer. Connects the Precisa Laboratory Balance to the SmartCable Keyboard gage interface using a RJ Ethernet type male cable connector---no additional cables required.
The output of the SmartCable Keyboard gage interface is a standard USB 2.0 keyboard signal. Connecting the SmartCable Keyboard with its built-in keyboard wedge to a computer will allow the Precisa BJ Laboratory Classic Balance to be identified as a keyboard device that can send data to any Microsoft Windows application - no software wedge required.
The SmartCable Keyboard gage interface will make the Precisa Laboratory Balance readings appear as if they were typed in using a standard keyboard - eliminates data collection errors. If you want to collect data into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet or explorer based SPC software, simply select the cell where you want the data to appear.
Readings can be triggered by the following:

Pressing the print key on the Precisa BJ Series Laboratory Balance

Pressing the button on the SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface

Depressing a connected footswitch (not included)
LED Indicator lights aid the user with the operation of the SmartCable Keyboard gage interface. This SmartCable Keyboard gage interface is easily configured to output data in different output modes on your spreadsheet, such as CR, TAB, up, down, left, or right. The output mode is selected by adjusting the rotary switch on the SmartCable Keyboard. To access the rotary switch, simply remove the top cover by loosening two Phillips screws.
Six foot standard cable length - custom lengths available upon request.
A detailed operation manual is included with this SmartCable Keyboard gage interface. Advanced Systems & Designs normally sets the SmartCable Keyboard to the default settings on the Precisa Laboratory Balance. Make sure both the SmartCable and Precisa Laboratory Balance are set to the same values. Refer to the Precisa BJ Series Balance operating instructions for more information on external communication.
