This Advanced Systems & Designs - ASDQMS SmartCable™ USB Keyboard single gage interface connects the Olympus Magna-Mike 8600 portable thickness gage to a computer. Attaches the Olympus Magna-Mike 8600 to the SmartCable™ Keyboard using a 9-pin male cable connector---no additional cables required. The output of the SmartCable™ Keyboard is a standard USB 2.0 keyboard signal.

Connecting the SmartCable™ Keyboard with its built-in keyboard wedge to a computer will allow the SmartCable to be identified as a keyboard device that can send data to any Microsoft Windows application - no software wedge required. The SmartCable Keyboard will make the Olympus Magna-Mike 8600 portable thickness gage readings appear as if they were typed in using a standard keyboard - eliminates data collection errors. If you want to collect data into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, simply select the cell where you want the data to appear.
Readings can be triggered from the Olympus Magna-Mike 8600 by the following:

Pressing the push button on the SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface

Depressing a connected footswitch (not included)

Pressing the send button on the Olympus Magna-Mike 8600 portable thickness gage (if it has one)

LED Indicator lights aid the user with the operation of the ASDQMS SmartCable™. This SmartCable™ Keyboard is easily configured to output data in different output modes on your spreadsheet, such as CR, TAB, up, down, left, or right. The output mode is selected by adjusting the rotary switch on the SmartCable™ Keyboard. To access the rotary switch, simply remove the top cover by loosening two Phillips screws. Six foot overall cable length.
A detailed operation manual is included with this SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface. Advanced Systems & Designs normally sets the SmartCable™ Keyboard to the default settings on the Olympus Magna-Mike 8600. Make sure both the SmartCable™ and Olympus Magna-Mike 8600 gage are set to the same values.
