This ASDQMS - Advanced Systems & Designs SmartCable™ USB Keyboard, single gage interface, connects the Ohaus Valor 7000 Series Compact Bench Scale to a computer. Connects the Ohaus Valor 7000 Series to the SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface using a 9-pin male cable connector---no additional cables required. The output of the SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface is a standard USB 2.0 keyboard signal.
Connecting the SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface with its built-in hardware wedge to a computer will allow the Ohaus Valor 7000 Series Compact Bench Scale to be identified as a keyboard device that can send data to any Microsoft Windows application - no software wedge required. The SmartCable Keyboard will make the Ohaus Bench Scale readings appear as if they were typed in using a standard keyboard - eliminates data collection errors. If you want to collect data into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, simply select the cell where you want the data to appear and trigger a reading.
Readings can be triggered by the following:

Pressing the PRINT (units) button on the Ohaus Valor Series Bench Scale

Pressing the button on the SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface

Depressing a footswitch (not included) connected to the SmartCable™ Keyboard
LED Indicator lights aid the user with the operation of the ASDQMS SmartCable™ gage interface. This SmartCable™ Keyboard is easily configured to output data in different output modes on your spreadsheet, such as CR, TAB, up, down, left, or right. The output mode is selected by adjusting the rotary switch on the SmartCable Keyboard. To access the rotary switch, simply remove the top cover by loosening two Phillips screws.

A detailed operation manual is included with this ASDQMS SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface. Advanced Systems & Designs normally sets the SmartCable Keyboard to the default settings on the Ohaus Valor Series Scale. Make sure both are set to the same values. Refer to the Ohaus Valor 7000 Series instruction manual for more information on external communication.
