This Advanced Systems & Designs - ASDQMS SmartCable™ USB Keyboard single gage interface connects to the Ohaus Scout Pro Electronic Balance with the optional RS232 interface using a 9-pin male cable connector---no additional cables required. The Ohaus Scout Pro Electronic Balance offers the user parts counting with auto optimization, display hold, totalize, weighing and specific gravity modes. Now you can send that data directly to your spreadsheet program.
The output of the ASDQMS SmartCable Keyboard is a standard USB 2.0 keyboard signal. Connecting the ASDQMS SmartCable™ Keyboard with its built-in keyboard wedge to a computer allows the Ohaus Scout Pro Electronic Balance to be identified as a keyboard device. Data can be sent to any Microsoft Windows application - no software wedge required.
The SmartCable Keyboard will make the Ohaus Electronic Balance readings appear as if they were typed in using a standard computer keyboard to eliminate data collection errors. If you want to collect data into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet or Explorer based SPC software program, simply select the cell where you want the data to appear and trigger the reading---just plug and play!

Pressing the PRINT button on the Ohaus Scout Pro Electronic Balance

Pressing the button on the ASDQMS SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface

Depressing a connected footswitch (not included)

A detailed operation manual is included with each SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface. This SmartCable™ USB Keyboard single gage interface is easily configured to output data in different output modes on your spreadsheet such as, CR, TAB, up, down, left, or right by adjusting the rotary switch on the SmartCable™ Keyboard. To access the rotary switch, simply remove the top cover by loosening two Phillips screws on the SmartCable™ Keyboard. LED Indicator lights with the operation of the SmartCable™ USB Keyboard single gage interface.

At the factory, Advanced Systems & Designs normally sets the SmartCable™ Keyboard to the default settings on the Ohaus Scout Pro Electronic Balance. Both the SmartCable™ and Ohaus Scout Pro Electronic Balance must be set to the same RS232 communication values. Refer to the Ohaus Scout Pro Electronic Balance instruction manual as well as the Ohaus RS232 Interface instruction manual for more information on external communication.
