This Advanced Systems & Designs SmartCable™ USB Keyboard single gage interface connects the Ohaus Explorer Pro EP413 Science Balance to a computer. Connects the Ohaus Explorer Pro Balance to the SmartCable™ Keyboard using a 9-pin female cable connector---no additional cables required. The output of the SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface is a standard USB 2.0 keyboard signal.
Connecting the SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface with its built-in keyboard wedge to a computer will allow the SmartCable to be identified as a keyboard device that can send data to any Microsoft Windows application - no software wedge required. The SmartCable™ Keyboard will make the Ohaus EP413 Balance digital readings appear as if they were typed in using a standard keyboard - eliminates data collection errors. If you want to collect data into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet or Explorer based SPC programs, simply select the cell where you want the data to appear.
Readings can be triggered by any of the following:
- Pressing the push button on the SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface
- Depressing a connected footswitch (not included)
- Pressing the send button on the Ohaus Explorer Pro EP413 Science Balance (if it has one)
Simple to use!
LED Indicator lights aid the user with the operation of the SmartCable™ gage interface. This SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface is easily configured to output data in different output modes on your spreadsheet, such as CR, TAB, up, down, left, or right. The output mode is selected by adjusting the rotary switch on the SmartCable™ Keyboard. To access the rotary switch, simply remove the top cover by loosening two Phillips screws. Six foot standard cable length with special lengths available on request.
A detailed operation manual is included with this SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface. The communication parameters can be changed and reconfigured per requirements for both the SmartCable™ and the Ohaus Explorer Pro Science Balance. Advanced Systems & Designs normally sets the SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface to the default settings on the Ohaus Explorer Pro Science Balance. Make sure both the SmartCable™ and Ohaus Explorer Pro Science Balance are set to the same values.
