E2 Maxum III, Maxum Plus Indicator SmartCable™ USB
Sends data to SPC data collection programs
The E2 Maxum III or Maxum Plus Indicator is connected to the 2121429 SmartCable™ USB gage interface using the 10-pin connector. The SmartCable™ USB connects directly to the gage - no additional cables required. This Advanced Systems & Designs SmartCable™ USB connects the Mahr Federal E2 Maxum III or Maxum Plus digital indicator to a computer as a COM port (or virtual Com Port) and will allow the gage to send data to communication and terminal emulation programs (i.e. HyperTerminal) or any SPC data collection software program.
NOTE: This SmartCable™ USB will NOT send data directly to a spreadsheet program such as Excel, without using a separate software program. Please see our SmartCable™ Keyboard (600-111-10-KB-USB) if you want to send data directly to Excel or Explorer based SPC software programs.
The output of the SmartCable™ USB is a standard USB 2.0 COM port signal and the USB connection supplies power to the cable. The gage cannot obtain power from the SmartCable™ USB---the gage requires a separate power supply (batteries) of its own.
Readings can be triggered by any of the following:

Pressing the push button on the SmartCable™ USB

Depressing a connected footswitch (not included)

Pressing the send button on the gage (if it has one)

Sending a gage read command from the computer to the SmartCable™ USB gage interface
This Advanced Systems and Designs SmartCable™ USB gage interface is capable of sending data in several modes; read only, continuous, continuous with delay, disable pushbutton, and others. A detailed operation manual is included with this Advanced Systems and Designs SmartCable™ USB including instructions on how to configure your Mahr Federal gage for the proper output format. Six foot cable length with special lengths available upon request.
