Mahr Federal Maxum III, Maxum Plus Digital Indicator SmartCable™ USB Interface
Send data to SPC data collection programs
Using a high quality 6-pin connector, this Advanced Systems & Designs SmartCable™ USB gage interface connects the Mahr Federal Maxum III or Maxum Plus digital indicator to a computer and will convert and send gage data as a COM port (or virtual Com Port) to communication and terminal emulation programs (i.e. HyperTerminal) or any SPC data collection software program.
NOTE: This SmartCable™ USB gage interface will NOT send data directly to a spreadsheet program such as Excel without using a separate software wedge program. Please see our SmartCable™ Keyboard (600-111-6-KB-USB) if you want to send data directly to Excel without a complicated software wedge.
The output of the SmartCable™ USB is a standard USB 2.0 COM port signal and the USB connection supplies power to the SmartCable™ USB. The gage cannot obtain power from the SmartCable™ USB---the gage requires a separate power supply (batteries) of its own.
Readings can be triggered by any of the following:

Pressing the push button on the SmartCable™ USB

Depressing a connected footswitch (not included)

Sending a gage read command from the computer to the SmartCable™ USB gage interface.
The Mahr Federal Maxum III SmartCable™ USB gage interface can send data in several modes; read only, continuous, continuous with delay, disable pushbutton, and others. A detailed operation manual is included with each SmartCable™ USB including instructions on how to configure your Mahr Federal Maxum III gage for the proper output format.
This SmartCable™ USB gage interface comes in a six foot standard cable length. Contact us if you require a custom cable length.
