Have you had a chance to read our previous blog yet? If you have, then you already know how important it is to protect the data you collect with our gage interface products. We talked about auditing your security system, educating your employees and creating clear security policies. The following is a list of the rest of the things you should do to prevent a data breach:
- Minimize the data you collect- Take a good long look at the data you've been collecting, and determine what is absolutely necessary and what you could do without. By minimizing the data you collect, you are also minimizing the risk of a data breach.
- Encrypt your data- If your data does somehow get out, you need to make it as difficult as possible for others to read and understand it, and the best way to do that is by encrypting your data.
- Back up your data- You need the data you've collected to operate your business on the most basic level, so it is of the utmost importance that you back up your data. This makes it possible to recover your data when necessary.
- Create a response plan- Do you know what you would do if there was a data breach? No matter how many security protocals you have in place, it is important that your business is prepared to handle a data breach. Create a data breach response plan, just in case.
- Regularly test your security system- Stay one step ahead of the hackers and the latest technology by regularly testing and auditing your security system. This will allow you to catch vulnerabilities before they become a problem for you.
