This Advanced Systems & Designs - ASDQMS SmartCable™ USB Keyboard single gage interface connects the Avery Weigh-Tronic ZM301 Weight Indicator directly to a computer. The SmartCable™ Keyboard interface attaches to the Avery Weigh-Tronic ZM301 Weight Indicator using direct wire lead connector---no additional cables required. The output of the SmartCable™ Keyboard is a standard USB 2.0 keyboard signal.
Connecting the SmartCable Keyboard with its built-in keyboard wedge to a computer will allow the Avery Weigh-Tronic ZM301 Indicator readings to be identified as a keyboard device that can send data to any Microsoft Windows application - no software wedge required. The SmartCable Keyboard will make the Weigh-Tronic ZM301 Indicator readings appear as if they were typed in using a standard keyboard - eliminates data collection errors. If you want to collect data into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, simply select the cell where you want the data to appear.
Readings can be triggered by the following:

Pressing the SEND or PRINT button on the Avery Weigh-Tronic ZM301 Weight Indicator

Pressing the button on the SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface

Depressing a connected footswitch (not included) or similar triggering device
Simple to use!
LED Indicator lights aid the user with the operation of the SmartCable. This SmartCable Keyboard is easily configured to output data in different output modes on your spreadsheet, such as CR, TAB, up, down, left, or right. The output mode is selected by adjusting the rotary switch on the SmartCable™ Keyboard. To access the rotary switch, simply remove the top cover by loosening two Phillips screws. A detailed operation manual is included with each SmartCable™ Keyboard.
At the factory, Advanced Systems & Designs - ASDQMS normally sets the SmartCable™ Keyboard to the default settings on the Avery Weigh-Tronic ZM301 Weight Indicator. Make sure both the SmartCable™ and Avery Weigh-Tronic ZM301 Weight Indicator are set to the same communication values. Refer to the Avery Weigh-Tronic ZM301 Weight Indicator Service Manual for more information on setting interface communication.
