The Aalborg XFM Mass Flow Meter is designed to measure gas and will not operate with liquids. In order to operate with this Advanced Systems and Designs - ASDQMS SmartCable™ USB Keyboard single gage interface, the Aalborg Mass Flow meter must have the optional RS232 interface installed. The XFM digital gas flow meters support several functions including low, high or range flow alarm. Advanced Systems & Designs sets the ASDQMS Multi-Field SmartCable™ Keyboard to read the current flow and totalizer. Contact us if you need the SmartCable™ to read a different option. This Advanced Systems & Designs - ASDQMS SmartCable™ USB Keyboard single-gage interface connects the Aalborg XFM Digital Mass Flow Meter with optional RS232 interface to a computer. Our SmartCable™ USB Keyboard single-gage interface allows you to send data to Excel or other spreadsheet programs. This gage interface connects to the Aalborg XFM Mass Flow Meter using a 15-pin male cable connector---no additional cables required. The output of the SmartCable™ Keyboard is a standard USB 2.0 keyboard signal.
Connecting the SmartCable™ Keyboard with its built-in keyboard wedge to a computer will allow the Aalborg XFM Digital Mass Flow Meter to be identified as a keyboard device that can send data to any Microsoft Windows application (like Excel) or internet explorer based SPC program - no software wedge required.
The SmartCable™ Keyboard will make the Aalborg XFM Mass Flow Meter flow readings appear as if they were typed in using a standard keyboard to eliminate data collection errors. If you want to collect SPC data into a Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet applications, simply select the cell where you want the data to appear and use one of the following methods to collect data.
Readings can be triggered by the following:

Pressing the button on the ASDQMS SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface

Depressing a connected footswitch (not included)

Using the continuous read function built in to the SmartCable™ Keyboard
A detailed operation manual is included with this SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface. Advanced Systems & Designs sets the SmartCable™ Keyboard to the default settings on the Aalborg XFM Digital Mass Flow Meter. Refer to the Aalborg XFM Digital Mass Flow Meter operating manual for more information on RS232 communication and communication with external devices.
LED Indicator lights aid the user with the operation of the Advanced Systems and Designs SmartCable™ Keyboard. This SmartCable™ Keyboard is easily configured to output data in different output modes on your spreadsheet, such as CR, TAB, up, down, left, or right. The output mode is selected by adjusting the rotary switch on the SmartCable™ Keyboard. To access the rotary switch, simply remove the top cover by loosening two Phillips screws.
