This Advanced Systems & Designs - ASDQMS SmartCable™ USB Keyboard, single gage interface, connects the A&D EK-i / EW-i Series Compact Balance to a computer. Connects the A&D Balance to the SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface using a 9-pin female cable connector---no additional cables required. The output of the SmartCable Keyboard is a standard USB 2.0 keyboard signal.
By connecting the SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface with its built-in keyboard wedge to a computer, the A&D Compact Balance can be recognized as a keyboard device. This setup enables it to send data directly to any Microsoft Windows application (such as Excel) or your SPC program, without the need for a cumbersome software wedge.
Using the ASDQMS SmartCable Keyboard gage interface, the readings from the A&D EK-i / EW-i Series Compact Balance will appear as if entered via a standard keyboard, eliminating data collection errors. For collecting SPC data into Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet applications, just select the cell where you'd like the data to appear and trigger a reading.
Readings can be triggered by the following:

Pressing the PRINT button on the A&D Compact Balance

Pressing the data button on the ASDQMS SmartCable Keyboard gage interface

Depressing a connected footswitch (not included)
A detailed operation manual is included with this ASDQMS SmartCable Keyboard. Advanced Systems & Designs normally sets the SmartCable Keyboard to the default settings on the A&D EK-i / EW-i Series Compact Balance. Make sure both the SmartCable and A&D Balance are set to the same values. Refer to the instruction manual for the A&D EK-i / EW-i Series Compact Balance for more information on external communication.
LED Indicator lights aid the user with the operation of the ASDQMS SmartCable Keyboard gage interface. This SmartCable Keyboard is easily configured to output data in different output modes on your spreadsheet, such as CR, TAB, up, down, left, or right. The output mode is selected by adjusting the rotary switch on the SmartCable Keyboard. To access the rotary switch, simply remove the top cover by loosening two Phillips screws.
