This special length (10 foot) Advanced Systems & Designs SmartCable™ USB single gage interface connects standard Mitutoyo gages (indicators, micrometers, calipers, etc) and other gages that mimic the Mitutoyo Digimatic signal, to a computer SPC data collection program - gage cable not included. Gages available from Chicago Dial Indicator (CDI), Mahr Federal, Ono Sokki as well as our FlashCables have digital outputs compatible with the Digimatic signal.
Connecting the SmartCable™ USB gage interface to a computer will allow the SmartCable USB send data to communication and terminal emulation programs (i.e. HyperTerminal) or any SPC data collection software program.
To extend the reach to your computer USB port this special 600-50-USB SmartCable™ is 10 feet long.
NOTE: This SmartCable™ USB will NOT send data directly to a spreadsheet program such as Excel, without using a separate software wedge program. Please see our 600-50-KB-USB SmartCable™ Keyboard if you want to send data directly to Excel.
The output of the SmartCable™ USB gage interface is a standard USB 2.0 COM port signal and the USB connection supplies power to the gage interface cable. The gage cannot obtain power from the Advanced Systems and Designs SmartCable™ USB and must have a power supply (batteries) of its own.
Readings can be triggered by any of the following:

Pressing the push button on the ASDQMS SmartCable™ USB

Depressing a connected footswitch (not included)

Pressing the send button on the gage (if it has one)

Sending a gage read command from the computer to the SmartCable™ USB.
The SmartCable™ USB gage interface can send data in several modes; read only, continuous, continuous with delay, reading with unit of measure, and others. A detailed operation manual is included with each SmartCable™ USB. Ten foot cable length.
